The general perception is that only romantic films score fabulously well in Overseas circuit. And if the romantic film stars Shah Rukh Khan, it is sone pe suhaaga! In the case of Shah Rukh starrers, the genre doesn’t matter. Even actioners like Pathaan and Jawan did roaring business abroad — and one major reason for it was that the films starred SRK.
But Animal was neither a romance drama nor did it star Shah Rukh Khan! Yet, it did fantastic business Overseas too, just like it hit the ball out of the park in the domestic market. Dhurandhar is the latest action drama to take the Overseas box-office by storm in spite of not being a love story and not starring SRK.
In fact, Dhurandhar is doing such outstanding business in the Overseas market that one has to rub one’s eyes in disbelief. In the first three weeks, it has grossed around Rs. 217 crore in Overseas alone. Like in India, collections of the Aditya Dhar directorial venture abroad, too, were better in 2nd week (Rs. 83.14 crore) than in the first week (Rs. 70 crore), which itself was phenomenal! With the Ranveer Singh starrer grossing approximately Rs. 64 crore in its third week, the film is poised to be among the all-time top grossers Overseas.
In North America and Australia, Dhurandhar has outdone all Hindi and South films of 2025 — and this includes Rajinikanth’s Coolie (Tamil) in North America. One is comparing the Hindi film with South Indian films too because several South films have surpassed the business of Hindi films abroad.
In the UK, Dhurandhar is only behind this year’s topmost grosser, Saiyaara. In other words, it has crossed all the other hits of 2025.
Talking of all-time blockbusters, here’s interesting data.
In North America, Dhurandhar, with a gross collection of $15 million, is at no. 5 of all-time top Indian grossers. The four films which it needs to overtake to become the topmost grosser are Animal, Jawan, Pathaan and Kalki 2898 AD (Telugu). It may be mentioned here that the top crown belongs to Kalki 2898 AD in the North American market.
In the UK, Dhurandhar stands at no. 13 in the list of all-time top grossers. Its 3-week gross is £2.22 million. The 12 films which are ahead of Dhurandhar in the UK are: Pathaan, Jawan, Saiyaara, Dhoom 3, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, My Name Is Khan, Dangal, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…, Animal, PK, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and Dilwale. Interestingly, of the abovementioned 13 films (including Dhurandhar), five are Shah Rukh Khan starrers, three are Aamir Khan starrers, one is a Salman Khan starrer, two are Ranveer Singh starrers, one is a Ranbir Kapoor starrer, and one stars Ayaan Panday. With the way the collections of Dhurandhar are going, it is anybody’s guess that it will outdo at least some of the 12 films ahead of it.
In Australia, Animal, Jawan and Pathaan are the only films which have grossed more than Dhurandhar (A$4.36 million). Again, going by the unabated run of Dhurandhar, it seems a foregone conclusion that it will shortly overtake the businesses of Jawan (gross A$4.67 million) and Pathaan (A$4.70 million). For it to overtake Animal, it needs to gross anything above A$5 million.
Since the film is banned in the Gulf region and because it has not opened in China, the two markets have not been discussed here.
Dhurandhar is distributed in the Overseas territory by Moviegoers Entertainment. The company had also distributed Ranveer Singh’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, besides other films of Dharma Productions and Jio Studios.
