The Delhi high court has directed the producers of Rajinikanth starrer Rajini The Jailer to edit out or digitally alter the scenes where a contract killer is shown wearing the jersey of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Justice Pratibha M. Singh directed the producers to ensure that from September 1, the RCB jersey was not visible “in any form”, and the film’s altered version was broadcast prior to its release on television, satellite or any OTT platform.
The order came on a suit filed by Royal Challengers Sports Pvt. Ltd., saying that the team jersey was used without its permission and “in a denigrating manner”. The plea said that the negative depiction — contract killer wearing the team jersey — could dilute RCB’s brand image and hurt its brand equity.
