A week after the release of Jaat, the Jalandhar police on April 18 filed an FIR against its actors, Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda and Vineet Kumar Singh, director Gopichand Malineni, and producers for allegedly hurting sentiments of the Christian community. The complainant, Viklaf Gold, alleged, “A scene in the movie depicts a congregation in a church, in which right below a picture of Jesus Christ on the pulpit, Hooda can be seen standing in the same posture, imitating Jesus, and there were scenes of hooliganism and threatening inside the church. Hooda has also mocked the word ‘Amen’.” The complainant also alleged that the film was deliberately released during the holy month of Good Friday and Easter so that the Christians would get angry and riots would break out in the entire country.
