June 27 will go down in film history as a red letter day. In spite of not being a festival, national or any other holiday, two producers released their films today (June 27) which is an odd day, being a Thursday. And both the films have opened to bumper houses!
Of course, both are regional films. Kalki 2898 AD may have had a pan-India release but it is made in Telugu and dubbed in four more languages — Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. Jatt & Juliet 3 is a Punjabi film. It would surprise people to know that the producers of Jatt & Juliet 3 had no intention of releasing the film on a Thursday but had to do so as Kalki 2898 AD was hitting the screens today. Had they not brought their Punjabi film on the same day, their film would’ve lost out on the shows in multiplexes from Friday as more shows would’ve been allotted to Kalki 2898 AD.
While the first day’s box-office figures are still awaited, it appears as if both the films will record historic collections.
