The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has served a legal notice on Kangana Ranaut for her tweet yesterday (3rd December) that Bilkis Bano had joined the farmers’ agitation over the new farm laws at various border points of Delhi. The actress, who seems to have an opinion on everything, put her foot in the mouth in that tweet for which she had allegedly misidentified an old woman at the farmers’ protest on the Delhi border as Bilkis Bano. The DSGMC has sought an unconditional apology for her “derogatory” tweet where she said that the woman had been bought for the protest on a payment of Rs. 100! Kangana later deleted her tweet but by then, the criticism she faced on social media had been tremendous.
Diljit Dosanjh took up cudgels on behalf of the farmers and tweeted that it was shocking that despite Kangana herself being a woman, she did not know how to respect women. Upon this, Kangana called him Karan Johar’s paltu (working for Karan)! Diljit was unstoppable, and the star-singer gave her such a piece of his mind that the actress was forced to make amends later by tweeting that she was in favour of farmers. Point to be noted is that in the tweet which she later deleted, she had referred to the agitating farmers as “terrorists”.
Manjinder Singh Sirsa, president of the DSGMC, tweeted today (4th), “We have sent a legal notice to @KanganaTeam for her derogatory tweet calling the aged mother of a farmer as a woman available for Rs. 100. Her tweets portray farmers’ protest as anti-national. We demand an unconditional apology from her for her insensitive remarks on farmers’ protest.”
