AUDIENCE’S LOVE POURS ON CINEMA LOVERS’ DAY

Low admission rates of Rs. 99 on the occasion of Cinema Lovers’ Day yesterday (May 31) resulted in an upsurge in footfalls in multiplexes and single-screen cinemas. The biggest beneficiary was the new release, MR. & MRS. MAHI which netted Rs. 6.85 crore on the first day. SAVI also stood to gain; it collected Rs. 1.95 crore on the opening day. The other new releases did not perform well at the box-office in spite of the controlled ticket prices.

Bhaiyya Ji could not do much in the first week. It performed better in single-screen cinemas than in multiplexes. It netted Rs. 1.44 crore on the first day. Collections on Saturday and Sunday were Rs. 2.01 crore and Rs. 2.40 crore respectively. Hence the total for the first weekend was Rs. 5.85 crore. Collections for the weekdays were on the lower side: Monday – Rs. 0.88 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.89 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.76 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.65 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 3.18 crore, the first week closed at Rs. 9.03 crore.

Barah X Barah  went largely unnoticed 1st week.

Lal Salaam (dubbed) fared badly in the first week all over.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (dubbed and the original English versions) did quite well in 1st week. After a net collection of Rs. 2.24 crore on Thursday (May 24), the film netted Rs. 1.77 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday jumped to Rs. 2.84 crore. The Sunday total was slightly lower at Rs. 2.46 crore. In this way, the first 4-day weekend closed at Rs. 9.31 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 1.02 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.86 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.77 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.72 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 3.37 crore, the first 8-day week closed at Rs. 12.68 crore.

The Garfield Movie (animation, dubbed and the original English versions) fell around 60% in the second week. It netted Rs. 1.10 crore in the second weekend, and another Rs. 0.70 crore during the weekdays. Hence teetotal for 2nd week was Rs. 1.80 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 6.35 crore.

Srikanth started the third weekend with a take of Rs. 1.18 crore. Collections on Saturday and Sunday were Rs. 2.15 crore and Rs. 2.27 crore respectively. After a third weekend total of Rs. 5.60 crore, collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 1.03 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.91 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.86 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.84 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 3.64 crore. In this way, the total for 3rd weeks Rs. 9.24 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 41.26 crore.

Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes (dubbed and the original English versions) dropped around 60% in the third week. It netted Rs. 1.20 crore in the third weekend, and Rs. 0.80 crore during the weekdays. Hence the total for 3rd week was Rs. 2 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 19.32 crore.

The Fall Guy (dubbed and the original English versions) fared poorly in the fourth week. It netted Rs. 0.16 crore in the fourth weekend, and another Rs. 0.10 crore during the weekdays. Therefore, the total for 4th week was Rs. 0.26 crore. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 6.97 crore.

Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire (dubbed and the original English versions) is in its last lap. It collected Rs. 0.38 crore in its ninth weekend, and another Rs. 0.27 crore during the weekdays. In this way, the ninth week closed at Rs. 0.65 crore. Grand total for 9 weeks: Rs. 106.16 crore.

Kaasra (Marathi) fared poorly in the first week all over Maharashtra.

Shaktimaan (Marathi) could not do much in 1st week in Maharashtra.

Naach Ga Ghuma (Marathi) continued to do well in 4th week all over Maharashtra.

Juna Furniture (Marathi) collected quite impressively in its fifth week too in Maharashtra.
