Shamshera proves a debacle. It started with a take of Rs. 10.25 crore on the first day. Collections were almost the same on Saturday so that the day closed at Rs. 10.50 crore. Even the Sunday figure of only Rs. 11 crore was uninspiring. The first weekend’s total of Rs. 31.75 crore was terrible, considering the canvas, star cast (Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt), banner (Yash Raj Films) and budget of the film. Collections nose-dived during the weekdays: Monday – Rs. 2.90 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 2.40 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.90 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.50 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was a pathetic Rs. 8.70 crore. Total for 1st week: Rs. 40.45 crore. Frankly, the total for the first weekend ought to have been Rs. 50 crore, and for the first week, Rs. 75 crore, at least. The film may end up shutting shop at Rs. 45-48 crore only!!
RK/RKay was a non-starter. It managed horrifyingly poor collections in the first week.
Thor: Love And Thunder (dubbed and the original English versions) recorded ordinary collections in 3rd week. It netted Rs. 3.09 crore in the third weekend, and an additional Rs. 1.23 crore during the weekdays. Therefore, the total for the third week was Rs. 4.32 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 97.72 crore.
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Telugu dubbed, Malayalam dubbed and Kannada dubbed) did well in select cinemas but ordinary business otherwise, in 4th week. The Hindi and Hinglish versions together netted Rs. 3.02 crore in the fourth week. In this way, the grand total of the Hindi and Hinglish versions together for 4 weeks was Rs. 32.79 crore. The Tamil, Telugu dubbed, Malayalam dubbed and Kannada dubbed versions together added only Rs. 17 lakh to its kitty. Hence the grand total of all the four South versions put together for 4 weeks was Rs. 3.61 crore. In other words, total of all versions put together for 4th week was Rs. 3.19 crore. Grand total for 4 weeks (all versions): Rs. 36.40 crore.
Minions: The Rise Of Gru (dubbed and the original English versions; animation) just about scraped through in the fourth week. It netted Rs. 0.92 crore in the fourth weekend, and Rs. 0.30 crore during the weekdays. In this way, its total for the fourth week was Rs. 1.22 crore. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 12.29 crore.
Ananya (Marathi) did ordinary in 1st week all over Maharashtra.
Raado (Gujarati) did quite well but its first week’s business was not commensurate with its budget of Rs. 15 crore. Collections picked up in the latter shows on the first day, and further from the second day onwards.
Vickida No Varghodo (Gujarati) did fairly well in 3rd week.
