The mystery behind Salman Khan’s recent tweet, that he will have a film releasing on Eid next year, has been solved.
A few weeks back, on 25th August to be precise, Salman had tweeted that his In-shaa-Allah would not keep its Eid date as it was going to be delayed. Just a day later, Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced that he had shelved In-shaa-Allah, starring Salman and Alia Bhatt. The two tweets made it clear that something had gone wrong between the superstar and the maverick filmmaker.
Anyway, Akshay Kumar seized the opportunity and announced his Laxmmi Bomb as the Eid 2020 release. That’s when Salman tweeted, “Itna mat sochna mere baare mein, dil mein aata hoon… aur Eid pe bhi 😉 (winking emoji).” After Salman’s tweet, the trade as well as his countless fans wondered which film of his would be ready by June next year. Was he going to postpone his Dabangg 3 from December 20, 2019 to Eid next year? Or would he bring his Kick 2 on Eid 2020? Speculation among Salman’s loyal fans was at an all-time high because, after all, it was the question of their Bhai’s film, that too, on Eid. But nobody could arrive at a conclusion as there were no clues forthcoming from Salman or his camp. It became clear that Dabangg 3 was not being postponed. It also turned out that the release of Kick 2 on Eid next year was almost impossible as the script is still under finalisation.
The cat is now out of the bag. It will neither be Dabangg 3 nor Kick 2 on May 24, 2020. Instead, Salman Khan is planning to remake a Korean film which he intends releasing next Eid. The Korean film is an action fare which has been loved not only by Salman but also his writer-dad, Salim Khan, whose opinion matters — and matters a lot. Insiders say that the Korean film cannot be adapted as it is, but will have to be rewritten for the Indian (Hindi) remake. Work on the film has already started and, in all likelihood, the remake will be directed by Prabhu Deva who is also directing Dabangg 3 which, incidentally, is currently being shot in Panchgani.
So, will both, Salman and Akshay, come on Eid 2020? Not likely. It doesn’t really make sense for two big films to clash. Besides, since the Eid week has, for many years now, been Salman’s week, Akshay just might want to shift the release of his Laxmmi Bomb. Or maybe, just maybe, he might want to stake his claim over the Eid week. Time will tell.
