SC REFUSES TO CENSOR KANGANA’S POSTS | 22 January, 2022

The Supreme Court on January 21 refused to entertain a plea seeking censorship of Kangana Ranaut’s future social media posts, clubbing of multiple FIRs lodged against her for remarks against the Sikh community and investigation by the Bombay police. It asked petitioner-advocate Sardar Charanjeet Singh Chanderpal, a member of the Sikh community, either to ignore the utterances made by the actress or avail remedy under criminal law as the remedy he was seeking could not be granted under an Article 32 petition. The apex court also said, the petitioner cannot seek clubbing of multiple FIRs, and only the accused or informant can seek such remedy.

Chanderpal told the court that he had filed an intervention application in the FIR quashing petition of Kangana, and was pursuing it.
