Well-known director Shyam Ramsay passed away in the early morning hours of today (18th September) at Criticare Hospital in Bombay due to pneumonia. He was 67 years old. He had been admitted to hospital a day earlier. He was cremated the same day. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Shyam was one of the famous seven Ramsay brothers who were known for their horror films in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. He had directed almost all the films made by the Ramsay brothers, some of them jointly with brother Tulsi Ramsay. He started directing films from the age of 17. Among the films directed by him were Darwaza, Purana Mandir and Veerana. The Ramsays later turned to television and made some horror TV serials too.
