Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love And Thunder (dubbed from the Hollywood film of the same name; A) is an action-adventure film. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is facing mid-life crisis but that takes a backseat when Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) gets on a killing spree. Gorr is angry because of the unfortunate and untimely demise of his little daughter. As revenge, he wants to eliminate all the Gods. To begin with, he holds Asgardian kids captive. Thor wants to rescue the kids but for that, he has to first reach them.

Thor enlists the support of Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Korg (Taika Waititi). As a bonus, he also meets his ex-lover, Dr. Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). But there’s something about Jane which saddens Thor.

Taika Waititi has written an entertaining story based on the writings of Marvel comics writers. The story has plenty of drama and action and some comedy and a bit of emotions too. Although there’s ‘love’ and ‘thunder’ in the title, the story has less of love. Taika Waititi and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson have penned a fast-paced screenplay because of which the audience does not get time to think. For a film of this genre, the fast pace is a phenomenal advantage. The computer graphics are so neatly done that the viewers are led to believe that in the Marvel universe, the action is for real rather than computer-generated. The film’s running time is only two hours, because of which the audience does not get bored at any point. Dialogues are good.

Chris Hemsworth endears himself to the audience as Thor. Whether it is action, thrilling stunts, romantic or light scenes, he is very good. Natalie Portman looks beautiful and delivers a fine performance as Dr. Jane Foster. Christian Bale’s get-up is suitably terrifying, and his acting is very good. As Gorr, he holds the viewers’ attention. Tessa Thompson lends fine support in the role of Valkyrie but how one wishes, she had been given more scope. In the role of Korg, Taika Waititi is entertaining. Russell Crowe performs ably as Zeus. His accent and acting are both of a good standard. Jaimie Alexander makes his mark as Sif. Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper lend star value in brief roles. Sean Gunn, Matt Damon, Sam Neill and Luke Hemsworth are impactful. Melissa McCarthy, Ben Falcone, Idris Elba, Brett Goldstein and the others are adequate.

Taika Waititi’s direction is good. He has made a wholesome entertainer for all classes of audience. Michael Giachhino and Nami Melumad’s music is effective. Barry Idoine’s camerawork is outstanding. Nigel Phelps’ production designing is of a very high order. Editing (by Peter S. Elliot, Tim Roche, Matthew Schmidt and Jennifer Vecchiarello) is very sharp. Dubbing is good.

On the whole, Thor: Love And Thunder is an entertaining fare and will do well at the ticket windows. The original English version (also released simultaneously) will perform better at the box-office.
