Amidst calls for the boycott of Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak because she visited the Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi on 7th January to show solidarity with the students who had been targetted by goons because of their anti-CAA stand, three days before her film released, Hema Malini has said that calling for a boycott of the film was not right as every artiste wants that people should see his/her performance.
The BJP MP from Mathura on 11th January said that going to the JNU was Deepika’s individual choice and it was up to her to decide what to do. She was speaking to reporters at an event in Mathura. She explained that Deepika was an artiste and not a politician and, therefore, she was not supposed to know what was happening in politics.
