The Punjab police booked Raveena Tandon, filmmaker Farah Khan and stand-up comedian Bharti Singh for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of Christians during a show webcast on the Internet. The case was registered on a complaint by Sonu Jafar, president of the Christian Samaj Front of Amristar district. The police have commenced investigations.
Jafar alleged that religious sentiments of Christians had been hurt when the trio trivialised the word ‘Hallelujah’ while trying to pronounce it on the web show. The case was registered under section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the IPC.
