REPEATING FILMS, HEARING SAME SONGS CAN HELP DEMENTIA PATIENTS | 27 December, 2019

Watching the same film over and over again or listening to the same song repeatedly could help people suffering from dementia, according to an NHS director. Prof. Alistair Burns, national clinical director for dementia at NHS England, recently said that while people with dementia might not necessarily remember the film, they may remember how they felt when they last watched it. Emotional memories are similarly triggered while listening to the same song. This, according to Kathryn Smith, COO of Alzheimer’s Society, can help boost self-confidence and self-esteem and also improve the social interactions of dementia patients.
