Maxamus Ltd., Atlas Movie Time and Text Step Services Pvt. Ltd.’s Asa Mee Ashi Mee (Marathi; UA) is the story of a photographer, Vaibhav Rajadhyaksha (Ajinkya Deo), who lives in London. He loves to have one-night stands. He has one such one-night relationship with Anagha Deshpande (Tejashri Pradhan). When Anagha, who is a divorcee, gets to know that he has had relations with her just for the fun of it, she is hurt because she loves him. Anagha walks out on Vaibhav. Anagha’s childhood friend, Kunal Mahajan (Madhav Deochake), loves her but she treats him as just a genuine friend. A stage comes in Anagha’s life when she has to choose between Vaibhav and Kunal. Whom does she choose?
The story is oft-repeated and lacks novelty of any kind. Kaustubh Savarkar and Unmesh Bankar have written a screenplay which is not half as engaging as it ought to have been. The drama often becomes predictable and hence doesn’t keep the viewers completely involved. Although it is a love story, emotions are conspicuous by their absence. The duo’s dialogues are okay.
Ajinkya Deo acts with aplomb as Vaibhav Rajadhyaksha. Tejashri Pradhan performs very well in the role of Anagha Deshpande. Madhav Deochake is reasonably alright as Kunal Mahajan. Krishnakant Keni lends average support as Vaibhav’s friend, Rahul. Sanjay Mone is okay as Anagha’s father, Sanjay Deshpande. Yashashri Masurkar is ordinary as Anagha’s friend, Neha.
Amol Shetge’s direction is so-so. There is nothing in the narration which would make the audience sit up and take note of the proceedings with interest. Nilesh Moharir’s music, and Shripad Arun Joshi’s lyrics are both ordinary. Aditya Bedekar’s background music is nothing to shout about. Sopan Purandare does a good job of the camerawork. Yogesh Ingale and Trupti Tamhane’s art direction is fair. Manish Shirke’s editing needed to be sharper, more so after interval.
On the whole, Asa Mee Ashi Mee is below average and will not be able to do anything substantive at the box-office.
