Karuppi, the captivating canine from Mari Selvaraj’s critically acclaimed Pariyerum Perumal (2018), lost his life on 31st October in Madras when he ran out of his house and was hit by a bus. It is believed that the dog was distraught by the high-decibel noise of crackers and hence ran out of his home.
A crew member of the film said, Karuppi ran out of his house at Puliyankulam on Diwali day as the noise of crackers was too much for him to bear. He was instantly hit by a bus and died. He was laid to rest by grieving villagers just as in Pariyerum Perumal.
