A Bombay court on July 9 cancelled the bailable warrant issued against actor Malaika Arora, a prosecution witness in the 2012 hotel brawl case involving actor Saif Ali Khan, after she appeared before it. The court had in April issued the warrant against her for failing to turn up for recording her testimony as a witness in the case.
She was dropped as a witness after the prosecution submitted that she “was not supporting their case”.
Saif is accused of assaulting an NRI businessman at a five-star hotel in Bombay 13 years ago. Khan was accompanied by his actor-wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, her sister, Karisma Kapoor, Malaika, her actor-sister, Amrita Arora, and some male friends at the dinner get-together on February 22, 2012.
Malaika appeared before the chief judicial magistrate (Esplanade court, Bombay) K.S. Zanwar on July 9. She then filed an application for cancellation of the bailable warrant, which the court allowed.
Saif and two others had been arrested following a complaint filed by the NRI businessman, Iqbal Mir Sharma. The trio was later released on bail.
