TAMIL FILM ACTOR MADHAN BOB DEAD | 3 August, 2025

Veteran Tamil film actor Madhan Bob passed away on 2nd August in Madras. He was 71. Madhan was known for his comedy roles. His characteristic and infectious laughter and his amusing expressions were loved by the audience. In fact, he earned the sobriquet of ‘Punnagai Mannan’ (King of Smiles) because of his many comedic roles.

S. Krishnamoorthy, who was known by his screen name, Madhan Bob, had been battling cancer and breathed his last at his residence. Madhan was also an accomplished musician.

Among the films he acted in are Thenali, Thevar Magan, Sathi Leelavathi, Chandramukhi, Ethir Neechal and Friends. He had appeared in more than 600 films. He made his debut in Vaaname Ellai (1992), directed by K. Balachander. Madhan’s filmography includes one Hindi film — Chachi 420 (1997) — and one Telugu film — Bangaram (2006), besides two Malayalam films — Bhramaram (2009) and Celluloid (2013).
