Popular Marathi films’ playback singer Vinay Mandke passed away on 1st April at his residence in Bombay. He was 73. He is survived by his wife, a son, daughter-in-law and grandson.
The iconic voice behind the legendary Hamara Bajaj jingle, Vinay recorded over 7,000 advertising jingles. In fact, it would not be wrong to say that he helped define India’s golden era of commercials. He also lent his voice to songs, in about 150 films, mostly Marathi.
In the Marathi film industry, Vinay was fondly recognised as Lakshya’s voice because he was the voice for almost all songs picturised on Laxmikant Berde (Lakshya).
Among the advertising films Vinay sang for were VIP Luggage (Kal bhi, aaj bhi), MDH Masala, Vicco Vajradanti, Lipton Tea, Tata Steel, Prestige Cooker, Lifebuoy, Nirma, Wheel, OK Soap, and Fevicol.
Vinay Mandke was a livewire on stage during live orchestra performances.
