Malayalam film actor and BJP leader G. Krishna Kumar was appointed chairman of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) earlier this month. He will serve as a part-time, non-official chairman and director on the Board of NFDC. The appointment is for a period of three years.
The President of India cleared the appointment, which was officially announced by the ministry of Information and Broadcasting on April 8. Krishna Kumar officially took charge and visited the NFDC headquarters in Bombay and the National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC) on April 16. Krishna Kumar, who joined the BJP in 2021, has a long career in Malayalam cinema and television. He previously served as a news reader for Doordarshan.
