AB Infosoft Creation’s The Narmada Story (UA) is a murder mystery. Sub-inspector Narmada (Simala Prasad) is investigating the disappearance of police inspector Purushottam Bhadoria (Sharad Singh). While investigating the case, a dead body is found in the electric power house. But the dead body is not of Bhadoria. Whose body is it? How did it land in the power house?
As the investigation progresses, a sordid tale of eunuchs and kidnappings unfolds.
Zaigham Imam’s story is dull and fails to engage the viewers. The screenplay, written by Zaigham Imam, Pankaj Kaurav and Aakash Tak, is so convoluted and weak that the drama just doesn’t hold the audience’s attention. Rather, it bores the viewers. Zaigham Imam’s dialogues are okay.
Simala Prasad is alright as sub-inspector Narmada. But she is not appropriate for the role of a Hindi film’s heroine. Raghubir Yadav is so-so as Narmada’s father, Nandkishore Raikwar. Mukesh Tiwari is okay as constable Shukla. Ashwini Kalsekar shines as Agni. Anjali Patil is alright as constable Gulab Singh. Ishteyak Khan performs quite well as eunuch Nisha. Sharad Singh is so-so as police inspector Bhadoria. Anandi Mishra (as Agni’s daughter, Roshni), Sadanand Patil (as eunuch Guru Maa), Zarina Wahab (as Narmada’s mother, Sudha Raikwar), Rana Pratap Sengar (as constable Gulab Singh’s husband), Kusum Shastri (as Bhadoria’s wife) and Hasan Peerzada (as the caretaker of the electric power house) pass muster.
Zaigham Imam’s direction is dull. Manik Batra’s music and lyrics are just about functional. Satya-Manik’s background music is below average. Sethu Sriram’s cinematography is alright. Imran Shaikh’s action and stunt scenes aren’t exciting. Shantanu Chatterjee’s art direction is okay. Sreejith-Sarang’s editing leaves something to be desired.
On the whole, The Narmada Story is a disastrous fare.
