Director Sudha Kongara has moved the Madras high court against Dawn Pictures, the producers of Tamil film Parasakthi, directed by her and released in January this year after a controversial battle with the Central Board of Film Certification. She has claimed that the producers still owe her Rs. 8.39 crore out of her total remuneration of Rs. 17.70 crore (including GST of Rs. 2.70 crore). She said, she had been paid only Rs. 9.31 crore so far.

Kongara has sought a stay on the release of Dawn Pictures’ new Tamil film, Idhayam Murali, which is due to hit the screens on July 10. The counsel of Sudha Kongara told the court that Dawn Pictures had announced that Parasakthi was a hit, but refused to clear her dues. Parasakthi reportedly did not do well at the box-office.
