‘THE SKY IS PINK’ SEES RED ON DAY 1 | 11 October, 2019

The opening of Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ The Sky Is Pink today (11th October) has not been impressive. The film took a lukewarm start all over. At places, the initial was rather dull, with morning shows being cancelled due to absence of audience.

The film, directed by Shonali Bose and based on a true-life story, was never expected to open to bumper houses as it was a film which was always positioned as a content-driven drama without the frills of a commercial potboiler. But yet, nobody expected that shows of the Priyanka starrer would be cancelled due to lack of audience at the cinemas.

The producers, Ronnie Screwvala, Siddharth Roy Kapur and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, did a smart thing by keeping the budget controlled. In that sense, they don’t have to worry about losing money because they have sold the satellite, digital and audio rights of the film for decent amounts of money. But if they were looking for a wide spectrum of audience to watch the film, they might have to remain disappointed because with the opening being below the mark and the public reports also not being positive, a jump in collections seems to be a difficult proposition.
