Television actress Sapna Ralhan and her husband, Puneet Kumar Ralhan, were arrested from Oshiwara in Bombay on 27th September. They were wanted in a cheating case in Jalandhar where they had allegedly duped a man of Rs. 3.5 crore by promising him appointment as an IPS officer and a posting in Jalandhar. The Jalandhar police, which requested the Bombay police to arrest the couple, have taken the duo on transit remand.
The Punjab & Haryana high court had pulled up the police for failing to arrest the couple, and a magistrate court in Jalandhar had issued a non-bailable warrant against the couple after registering a case of cheating, forgery, breach of trust and criminal conspiracy. After the Jalandhar police failed to arrest the duo, the complainant filed a writ petition before the Punjab & Haryana high court. The couple had also given counterfeit appointment letters of the defence ministry and the National Police Academy, Hyderabad.
