Regional cinema seems to be having it too good to be true even as Hindi cinema still struggles to come on track post-pandemic. Telugu film Love Story opened today (24th September) to an absolutely outstanding start. Collections are bumper all over Nizam, Andhra, Telangana and Ceded. Like the initial, the public reports are also amazing.
Writer-director Sekhar Kammula has made a love story and has raised social issues like caste disparity and child sex abuse so beautifully into the main story that they don’t look like two add-ons. Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi play the protagonists as if they were born to play Revanth and Mouni. They act wonderfully, they dance graciously (Pawan Ch’s music is a plus point), they emote in a manner that your heart roots for them and cries for them. Little wonder, the applause in the cinemas for the two screen lovers is deafening. Trade insiders predict that the first day might close at Rs. 10.75 crore (gross)!
