The Bombay University on 8th October agreed to consider the proposed Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Music College as an affiliated college following high drama at the senate meeting the same day. It also agreed to send a proposal to the state government at the earliest. The issue of granting land on the Bombay University campus at Kalina in Bombay to set up the college took a political turn during the meeting.
While the MVA government was in favour of granting University land for the purpose, the varsity’s administration was waiting for permission to come from the governor’s office as the University does not have the powers to decide on the issue of grant of land. There was high drama on the campus as senate members from Yuva Sena squatted on the floor to protest against the University’s delay in taking a decision. Because of this, the University administration agreed to send the proposal to the state.
