The Karni Sena has, through a public interest litigation, sought a ban on the release of Yash Raj Films’ Prithviraj, alleging that it presents a wrong and vulgar portrayal of Hindu emperor Prithviraj and, therefore, hurts sentiments. The Akshay Kumar starrer is slated for release on 10th June.
The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has asked the Central government if the CBFC had granted the film a certificate. The court order on Karni Sena’s PIL came on February 3. The court has fixed the case for hearing later this month.
