Both the new releases of this week failed to take even average starts. RASHTRA KAVACH OM netted Rs. 1.50 crore on the first day while ROCKETRY: THE NAMBI EFFECT struggled to touch the crore mark but without success. While the former did somewhat better in single-screen cinemas, the latter film got its footfalls in high-end multiplexes.
Jugjugg Jeeyo did not live up to the expectations, banner and star cast. It started far below expectations with a take of Rs. 9.28 crore on the first day (Friday). Collections picked up on Saturday which closed at Rs. 12.55 crore. The total for Sunday was Rs. 15.10 crore. The first weekend, therefore, closed at Rs. 36.93 crore which may have been almost four times the first day’s total but was still below the mark. Since the film found acceptance only in select multiplexes of mainly the big cities, collections came down fast and furiously on Monday which ended at just Rs. 4.82 crore. Tuesday closed at Rs. 4.52 crore, Wednesday at Rs. 3.97 crore, and Thursday at Rs. 3.20 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was only Rs. 16.51 crore. In other words, the first week’s total was Rs. 53.44 crore.
Sherdil – The Pilibhit Saga failed miserably in the first week.
Jurassic World: Dominion (dubbed and the original English versions) dropped more than 65% in its third week as compared to the second week. The third weekend started with a take of Rs. 0.58 crore on Friday. Collections more than doubled on Saturday and increased further on Sunday. The total net collections for Saturday and Sunday were, therefore, Rs. 1.37 crore and Rs. 1.70 crore respectively. In this way, the third weekend closed at Rs. 3.65 crore. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 0.38 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.37 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.36 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.23 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 1.34 crore. Total for 3rd week: Rs. 4.99 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 67.66 crore.
Samrat Prithviraj added only Rs. 60 lakh to its kitty in 4th week. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 70.51 crore.
Y (Marathi) bombed in the first week itself all over Maharashtra.
Lahar (Marathi) could not do anything worthwhile in the first week in Maharashtra.
Naadi Dosh (Gujarati) continued to do extraordinarily well in the second week in spite of the opposition of Jugjugg Jeeyo. It netted Rs. 49 lakh on the first day of the second weekend. Collections increased to Rs. 91 lakh on Saturday, and further to Rs. 1.22 crore on Sunday. Hence the total for the second weekend was an impressive Rs. 2.62 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 44 lakh, Tuesday – Rs. 43 lakh, Wednesday – Rs. 42 lakh, Thursday – Rs. 36 lakh. In this way, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 1.65 crore. Total for 2nd week: Rs. 4.27 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 9.60 crore.
