Investigations into the alleged death threats issued to Salman Khan and his writer-father, Salim Khan, have reached a dead end with the police concluding that the admission by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s aide, Siddesh Kamble alias Mahakal, was only to mislead the police in its probe. The Bombay police also said that although the actor was granted a gun licence in the wake of the alleged threats, possessing a gun licence always acted as a deterrent.
Following the threat letter found by Salim Khan, the Bandra (Bombay) police had registered an FIR against unknown persons. The crime branch had also started a parallel investigation. Mahakal was arrested by the Pune police in connection with the murder of Punjabi film and pop singer Sidhu Moose Wala a few days before the threat letter to Salman and Salim Khan. During interrogation, Mahakal revealed that Bishnoi had issued the threat letter from jail and that it was his aide, Vikram Barad, who had kept it on a bench for Salim Khan to read.
The police now feel, the entire exercise of naming Lawrence Bishnoi was intended to mislead the police.
