‘GOODBYE’ OPENS POORLY DESPITE CONCESSIONAL TICKET PRICING

GOODBYE opened yesterday (7th October) to very dull houses in spite of the tickets being sold at concessional rates… GODFATHER (dubbed), which opened on 5th October (Dassera day), did fairly well on account of the festive holiday but collections dropped from the second day onwards. The original Telugu version fared better.

Vikram Vedha proves to be a resounding flop. Its poor initial and its high cost have turned out to be the biggest minus points. It started with a take of only Rs. 9.50 crore on day 1. Collections on Saturday and Sunday picked up but not to the desired levels. The net total on Saturday was Rs. 12.50 crore while on Sunday, it was Rs. 14 crore. After a rather unimpressive weekend of just Rs. 36 crore, collections declined during the weekdays. In fact, even the festive Dassera holiday on Wednesday (sixth day) did not much help the film. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 5.50 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 5.75 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 7.50 crore, Thursday – Rs. 3.50 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was only Rs. 22.25 crore. In this way, the first week closed at Rs. 58.25 crore. The film would have to do over Rs. 175 crore to break even. But even the Rs. 100-crore mark now looks like a distant dream.

Woh 3 Din bombed miserably in the first week everywhere.

Ponniyin Selvan – I (dubbed) did very ordinary business in the first week. Although the original Tamil version swept the box-office down South and Overseas too, the Hindi dubbed version did not fare too well. The first day recorded net collections of Rs. 1.85 crore. Collections on Saturday and Sunday went up to Rs. 2.50 crore and Rs. 3.25 crore respectively. Therefore, the total for the first weekend was Rs. 7.60 crore. Collections during the weekdays: Monday – Rs. 1.40 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.60 crore, Wednesday (Dassera holiday) – Rs. 2.55 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.10 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 6.65 crore. Hence the total for the first week was Rs. 14.25 crore.

Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva did ordinary business in the fourth week. All the versions put together netted Rs. 6.45 crore in the fourth week. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 248 crore.
