Canada-based gangster Satvinder Singh, also known as Goldy Brar (on the left in the picture), the suspected mastermind of rapper-singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s (on right in pic) May 29 murder, was detained in California over a week ago. He is in the US police’s custody, Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann announced on December 2 while on a campaign trip to Gujarat. Brar will be deported to India shortly, it is learnt. The Punjab police had got a red-corner notice issued against the gangster through the Union home ministry.
Goldy, who hails from Muktsar in Punjab, moved to Canada on a student visa in 2017. He shifted base to the US after Moose Wala was killed near his native village in Punjab’s Mansa. Goldy also claimed responsibility for the murder of Dera Sacha Sauda follower Pardeep Singh who was facing sacrilege cases, on November 10.
The chargesheet in the Moose Wala case says that Goldy coordinated with Lawrence Bishnoi, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and shooters, arranged weapons, money, cars, phones, mobile SIMs, and shelters.
Incidentally, Moose Wala’s father had asked the Punjab government to announce an award of Rs. 2 crore for any information on Goldy. He even offered to pay the Rs. 2 crore to the informant.
