GOOD NEWWZ has been the perfect ending to a fine year.
Good Newwz has done phenomenally well in the first week and should go super-strong in its second week too. It collected Rs. 17.56 crore on the first day. Collections increased by 25% on the second day which closed at Rs. 21.78 crore. There was a further jump of around 18% on Sunday (Rs. 25.65 crore). The weekend, therefore, closed at Rs. 64.99 crore. Collections during the weekdays were also extraordinary due to excellent word of mouth and the New Year’s eve and New Year celebratory mood. It collected Rs. 13.41 crore on Monday, Rs. 16.20 crore on Tuesday (31st December), Rs. 22.50 crore on Wednesday (New Year’s day), and Rs. 10.80 crore on Thursday. In this way, the film netted Rs. 62.91 crore in the weekdays, almost as much as in the weekend. The first week, therefore, closed at an exceptional Rs. 127.90 crore. The film joined the Rs. 100-crore club on the sixth day itself. Its performance at the Overseas box-office was also lovely. It grossed Rs. 25 crore in the first weekend and another Rs. 20.60 crore in the weekdays, taking the first week’s Overseas total to Rs. 45.60 crore. It may become Akshay’s highest grosser abroad as it has already surpassed his earlier hits in North America and Australia.
Dabangg 3 dropped by almost 85% in 2nd week despite the New Year celebratory mood. The second weekend started on a slow note with a net collection of Rs. 3 crore on Friday. The collections for Saturday and Sunday were Rs. 3.50 crore and Rs. 4 crore respectively. After a second weekend total of Rs. 10.50 crore, collections during the weekdays were as follows: Rs. 2 crore on Monday, Rs. 2.50 crore on Tuesday (New Year’s eve), Rs. 4.10 crore on Wednesday (New Year’s day), and Rs. 1.60 crore on Thursday. The total for the weekdays, therefore, was Rs. 10.20 crore. In this way, the second week’s total was Rs. 20.70 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 142.70 crore.
Star Wars: Vijaypath (dubbed) and the English original, Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker,fared poorly in 2nd week.
Mardaani 2 did fair business in 3rd week. It netted Rs. 2.70 crore in the third weekend, and another Rs. 2.35 crore in the weekdays. By adding Rs. 5.05 crore to its kitty in 3rd week, it took its grand total for 3 weeks to Rs. 45.25 crore. The lifetime collections of Rani Mukerji’s Hichki, her last film before Mardaani 2, were Rs. 46.18 crore. So, Mardaani 2 is all set to surpass that.
Jumanji: The Next Level (dubbed) and the English original of the same name collected Rs. 4.10 crore in the third weekend, and another Rs. 4.20 crore in the weekdays. By adding Rs. 8.30 crore to its kitty in the third week, it took its total for 3 weeks to Rs. 57.62 crore.
Pati Patni Aur Woh collected Rs. 1 crore in the fourth weekend, and Rs. 1.03 crore in the weekdays, taking the fourth week’s total to Rs. 2.03 crore. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 84.24 crore.
