It was a dream Friday for the new release, Dream Girl. The Ayushmann Khurrana starrer netted Rs. 10.05 crore on the opening day (September 13). With public reports of the comedy film being excellent, the debut directorial venture of Raaj Shaandilyaa seems to be heading to be a box-office hit. For producer Ekta Kapoor, this should come as great news, more so because her two recent releases, Judgementall Hai Kya and Jabariya Jodi, did not weave their magic at the turnstiles.
Last week’s release, Chhichhore, also scored wonderfully well on Friday. After a first week of Rs. 67 crore, it netted Rs. 5.25 crore on the first day of the second weekend. At the rate at which the Nitesh Tiwari film is going, it is likely to join the Rs. 100-crore club at the end of the second week. If not 19th September, it is sure to touch the magical figure of Rs. 100 crore on 20th or 21st September. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala had been supremely confident of the film when he had heard the one-line story from Tiwari.
