EIGHT CDA OFFICE-BEARERS BOOKED IN CHEATING CASE | 1 May, 2023

The Bombay police recently registered an FIR against the president of the Cine Dancers’ Association (CDA), its general secretary, treasurer and five other office-bearers on the charge of illegally collecting around Rs. 1-1.5 crore from aspiring members. As per the complaint, the accused collected money to the tune of more than Rs. 1 crore under the pretext of granting CDA membership even though they did not have permission from the court to collect money.

The complainant, who claimed that he had paid Rs. 50,000 for a CDA membership, alleged that the CDA president and others parked money in the bank accounts of their family members. He added that they prepared fake invoices to release the amount but did not give the account of money spent. It is alleged that the accused used to collect money for granting membership as well as by way of donations, non-subscription, etc.
