There was no respite for the box-office last week, too, as collections remained low. And there doesn’t seem to be a major saviour on the horizon — for some more weeks at least — which could create scintillating magic at the ticket windows. Exhibitors continue to reel under losses… FURIOSA: A MAD MAX SAGA (dubbed and the original English versions) opened on Thursday (May 23) and netted approximately Rs. 2.25 crore on the first day.
Kartam Bhugtam met with a disastrous fate, netting barely Rs. 1.15 crore in the first week.
The Garfield Movie (animation, dubbed and the original English versions) did average business in 1st week. It netted around Rs. 2.85 crore in the first weekend and another Rs. 1.70 crore during the weekdays. In this way, it managed to collect Rs. 4.55 crore in the first week.
Srikanth remained steady at medium collections in 2nd week. The second weekend started with a take of Rs. 1.67 crore. Collections on Saturday increased to Rs. 2.82 crore. The jump on Sunday was higher so that the day closed at Rs. 4.04 crore. After a second weekend total of Rs. 8.53 crore, collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 1.52 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.26 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.20 crore, Thursday (Buddha Purnima partial holiday) – Rs. 1.47 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 5.45 crore. In this way, the total for 2nd week was Rs. 13.98 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 32.02 crore.
Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes (dubbed and the original English versions) dropped around 60% in the second week. It netted approximately Rs. 3.25 crore in the second weekend and another Rs. 1.75 crore during the weekdays. Hence the total for 2nd week was Rs. 5 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 17.32 crore.
The Fall Guy (dubbed and the original English versions) was dull in 3rd week. It collected Rs. 0.09 crore on the first day of the third weekend. Collections on Saturday and Sunday increased to Rs. 0.20 crore and Rs. 0.21 crore respectively. Hence the total for the third weekend was Rs. 0.50 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 0.08 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.06 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.05 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.04 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 0.23 crore. With this, the total for 3rd week was just Rs. 0.73 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 6.71 crore.
Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire (dubbed and the original English versions) netted Rs. 0.66 crore in the eighth weekend and another Rs. 0.44 crore during the weekdays, taking the total for 8th week to Rs. 1.10 crore. Grand total for 8 weeks: Rs. 105.51 crore.
Bhundis (Marathi) fared poorly in the first week all over Maharashtra.
Naach Ga Ghuma (Marathi) continued to score in 3rd week in Maharashtra.
Juna Furniture (Marathi) collected quite well in 4th week all over Maharashtra.
