The shockingly poor initial of this week’s BHEDIYA has poured water on the euphoria created by the runaway success of last week’s DRISHYAM 2.
Drishyam 2 proves to be a super-hit. It soared high right from the word ‘go’ and was unstoppable all through the week, netting double-digit collections on each of the first five days of the first week. The film netted Rs. 15.38 crore on Friday, making it the second-highest opening of the year so far, next only to Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. Collections jumped to Rs. 21.59 crore on Saturday, and further to Rs. 27.17 crore on Sunday, taking the first weekend’s total to an astounding Rs. 64.14 crore! Collections on the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 11.87 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 10.48 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 9.55 crore, Thursday – Rs. 8.62 crore. The total for the weekdays, therefore, was a wonderful Rs. 40.52 crore! In this way, the first week closed at Rs. 104.66 crore. Its performance Overseas was very good. It grossed an equivalent of Rs. 28.60 crore in 1st week abroad. Of this, the first weekend recorded a collective gross of Rs. 19 crore whereas the weekdays added Rs. 9.60 crore.
Mister Mummy proved to be a debacle in 1st week all over.
Uunchai dropped around 45% in 2nd week in spite of running on a limited number of screens. While the weekend was fairly good, collections during the weekdays were not too encouraging. The second weekend started with a net of Rs. 1.31 crore. Collections on Saturday and Sunday increased to Rs. 2.42 crore and Rs. 2.87 crore respectively. Therefore, the second weekend closed at Rs. 6.60 crore. Collections during the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 0.70 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.69 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.71 crore, Thursday – 0.70 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 2.80 crore, the second week closed at Rs. 9.40 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 26.42 crore. It is running in 392 cinemas in 3rd week. It grossed an equivalent of Rs. 2.85 crore Overseas in 2nd week, taking the two-week total to Rs. 8.40 crore.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (dubbed and original English versions) fell around 80% in 2nd week. The second weekend started with a take of Rs. 1.70 crore on Friday. Collections almost doubled to Rs. 3.16 crore on Saturday, and increased marginally to Rs. 3.38 crore on Sunday, taking the second weekend’s total to Rs. 8.24 crore. Collections dipped markedly during the weekdays: Monday – Rs. 0.81 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.70 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.65 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.60 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was just Rs. 2.76 crore. Total for 2nd week: Rs. 11 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 62.50 crore.
