MANOJ KUMAR LAID TO REST WITH FULL STATE HONOURS | 6 April, 2025

Legendary actor-producer-director-lyricist Manoj Kumar was cremated on 5th April with full state honours and a three-gun salute. His body, wrapped in the Indian tricolour, was brought from his residence to Pavan Hans crematorium in a van which was bedecked with saffron, green and white flowers to match the Indian tricolour.

Manoj Kumar, who was often referred to as Bharat Kumar because of the strong patriotic flavour in his films, whether Shaheed, Upkar, Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, Purab Aur Paschim, Kranti or several others, and also because his character in some of his films was known by the name of Bharat, made the theme of patriotism popular in Hindi films.

Amitabh Bachchan, Salim Khan, Subhash Ghai, Ranjeet, Anu Malik, Raj Babbar, Abhishek Bachchan, Arbaaz Khan, Jimmy Shergill and Rajpal Yadav were among the industry people who offered condolences to Manoj Kumar’s widow and two sons, Vishal and Kunal Goswami, at the crematorium.

A prayer meeting in the great actor-filmmaker’s memory will be held today from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at JW Marriott Hotel, Juhu, Bombay.
