Thrice National Award-winning Malayalam film cinematographer-director Sivan passed away today (24th June) at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram due to cardic arrest. He was 89. He was the father of popular filmmaker-cinematographers Santosh Sivan, Sangeeth Sivan and Sanjeev Sivan and a daughter, Saritha Rajeev.
Among the films cinematographed and/or directed by Sivasankaran Nair are Abhayam, Yagam, Oru Yathra, Kochu Kochu Mohangal and Kilivathil. He had shot National Award-winning Malayalam filmChemmeen. He debuted as a director with Swapnam (1972). He was the first government press photographer in Travancore and Thiru-Kochi.
