The Bombay city crime branch investigating the firing at Salman Khan’s residence at Bandra in Bombay last month, arrested one more alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, identified as Harpal Singh alias Harry from Haryana on May 14. With this arrest, the total number of persons held in the case has touched six. One of the accused, Anuj Thapan, had committed suicide in the police lock-up earlier this month.
Harpal was produced before the special MCOCA court and remanded to police custody. According to the cops, Harpal took orders from Rohit Godara and Anmol Bishnoi over internet calls and gave Rs. 3 lakh to accused Mohammed Rafiq Choudhary for doing a recce around Salman’s home. Harpal Singh’s name cropped up during Choudhary’s interrogation.
The police said, they have identified three or four more persons who were part of the conspiracy. They also suspect that the same set of accused people planted the threat letter issued by the Bishnoi gang to Salman’s father, writer Salim Khan, while the latter was out on a morning walk two years ago.
