Yesteryear actress Veena Kapur was murdered in her flat at Juhu in Bombay on 6th December by her 43-year-old son, Sachin. The son used a baseball bat to commit the crime in the bedroom of the sprawling flat in which they both lived. He later dumped the body in Matheran valley.
Seventy-four-year-old Veena Kapur, who had acted in Punjabi films and Hindi TV serials many years ago, had moved the Bombay high court, seeking orders for evicting her son from her house for cruelty and harassment. The matter is still pending in the court. The immediate instigation for the murder was a heated argument between Veena and Sachin when the former switched off the bell which Sachin used to ring to summon the house help. Veena reportedly felt disturbed by the bell.
Sachin was later arrested. Veena Kapur’s elder son, Nevin, came from the USA to perform his mother’s last rites.
