THE DISAPPOINTMENTS | 3 January, 2020

Manikarnika – Jhansi Ki Rani cost a bomb to shoot and re-shoot but it fell short of the Rs. 100-crore mark.

Student Of The Year 2 netted Rs. 65 crore which was less than the net total collection of SOTY.

Salman Khan may have made profits — rather, tons of profit — in Dabangg 3 and Bharat. But neither film could reach even the Rs. 200-crore mark, what to talk of the Rs. 300-crore-plus collections of his earlier hits like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai.

Karan Johar’s multi-star-cast Kalank was like a black spot on the reputation of all connected with the film. Despite hit music and a cast to die for, the film sank without a trace. It netted only Rs. 82 crore when the expectations were far more.

Ashutosh Gowariker’s historical, Panipat, started slow and then disappeared from many cinemas within no time. Still running at places, it will barely collect Rs. 35 crore all-India.

Sunny Deol’s Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas simply did not find a place in the hearts of the people. The costly film, which introduced Sunny’s son, Karan Deol, in the male lead, proved a resounding flop.
