Two men were arrested on June 29 for trying to allegedly extort money from actress Krutika Desai after posing as sleuths from the Narcotics Control Bureau and threatening to fix her in a fake drugs case. She was returning to her home at Bandra in Bombay on June 9 in the evening when her car was stopped by Pawan Vishwakarma and Atul Bhosale. The duo asked her to step out so that they could carry out a search of her vehicle for drugs.
On the pretext of questioning her, the two told her to show her hands to check if she had consumed drugs. They flashed yellow cards, explaining that they were their identity cards. Krutika got suspicious and asked them to call a lady cop to conduct a search. She then switched on the camera of her cell phone to capture their faces. Before they could do anything else, Krutika asked her driver to speed away because by then, they had come towards the driver’s side.
