The Bombay high court has restrained media organisations and online platforms from referring to Rajesh Khan’s bungalow at Bandra in Bombay as “cursed”, “haunted” or “unlucky”.
Shashi Shetty, a businessman, who purchased the bungalow called Ashirwad some years ago, moved the court after coming across articles, posts and videos on the internet, that labelled the property as being haunted, cursed or ill-omened. Justice Arif S. Doctor, in an interim order passed on July 24, said that such descriptions were prima facie defamatory, and they violated the plaintiff’s fundamental right to live peacefully and in dignity.
The ad interim relief will continue until the next hearing on August 21.
