Satyajit Ray’s son, Sandip, stumbled upon valuable memorabilia tucked away in his house in south Calcutta. Nobody was aware that the priceless find lay there since years. Among the things Sandip found during a recent lockdown clean-up were negatives of 100 hitherto unseen photographs clicked by Satyajit Ray, more than 1,000 unseen negatives or transparencies of working stills from the sets of the filmmaker’s early movies including Pather Panchali, and letters and telegrams from stalwarts of world cinema, such as Frank Capra, Arthur C. Clarke, Akira Kurosawa and Richard Attenborough.
