Romy Khan Film Production’s Sanjana (A) is a horror drama.
A widow lives with her son and daughter. One day, she is raped by a man who then kills her as well as her children. The woman’s spirit seeks revenge and ultimately kills the rapist.
Pradeep Verma’s story is oft-repeated and devoid of novelty. His screenplay is so clichéd that it fails to engage the viewers. As for his dialogues, they are routine.
Performances of Javed Patel, Neelam Shah, Rudraksh Shukla and Abdul Gaffar Khan are all dull. Child actors Alisa and Arjaan have also not acted well.
Romy Khan’s direction is unimpressive. Harsh Vyas’ music is weak. Lyrics (Pradeep Verma) hardly deserve separate mention. Bharat Thakur’s choreography is average. Hirdesh Singh Sikarwar’s camerawork and editing barely pass muster.
On the whole, Sanjana is a flop horror show.
Released on 26-4-’19 at Imperial (daily 4 shows) and other cinemas thru Akshay Production. Publicity & opening: poor.
