There were several actors who contested the Lok Sabha elections 2024 from various constituencies. While eight actors won the elections, three were defeated by their rivals.

Actress and sitting BJP MP Hema Malini was declared elected from the Mathura constituency.

In her political debut, Kangana Ranaut won the elections from the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh, defeating Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh. She contested on a BJP ticket.

Shatrughan Sinha, who was a Trinamool Congress candidate from Asansol in West Bengal, bagged the seat as he defeated BJP’s S.S. Ahluwalia.

Raj Babbar, a Congress candidate, lost the Gurgaon seat by 75,000 votes. He has been a Lok Sabha MP thrice and a Rajya Sabha MP twice.

Malayalam film actor Suresh Gopi helped BJP open its account in Kerala when he won the Thrissur seat in Kerala.

Actress Smriti Irani lost the prestigious Amethi constituency. The BJP candidate was defeated by Congress and Gandhi loyalist Kishori Lal Sharma.

Although the BJP may have lost Ayodhya (Faizabad constituency in Uttar Pradesh) in spite of constructing the Ram temple there just five months back, the Ram of TV serial Ramayan, Arun Govil, romped home victorious on a BJP ticket from Meerut. He defeated Samajwadi Party candidate Sunita Verma.

Actor and BJP candidate Ravi Kishan defeated Samajwadi Party’s Kajal Nishad by more than one lakh votes in Gorakhpur.

Bhojpuri cinema’s star, Manoj Tiwari, won the North East Delhi seat by a comfortable margin. He contested on a BJP ticket.

Bhojpuri films’ Dinesh Lal Yadav, however, was not as lucky. He fought on a BJP ticket but lost the Azamgarh seat to Samajwadi Party’s Dharmendra Yadav.

Singer Hans Raj Hans lost the Faridkot seat on a BJP ticket.

Bengali film and television actress Saayoni Ghosh won from the Jadavpur constituency in West Bengal. She fought the LS elections on a Trinamool Congress ticket.

While Bengali film actor Dev won the Lok Sabha elections from Ghatal constituency in West Bengal, his former colleague, actor Hiran Chatterjee, lost from the same. Dev was TMC’s candidate.

Telugu film actor and Jana Sena founder Pawan Kalyan romped home victorious from the Pithapuram legislative assembly seat in Andhra Pradeshin the Assembly elections, results of which were also declared yesterday.

Telugu film actor Balakrishna won in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. Having contested on a Telugu Desam Party ticket, he marked his victory from Hindupur.

Actress R.K. Roja Selvamani lost in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly polls. She was a Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) candidate from Nagari.
