The police traced a 35-year-old man from Kapurthala in Punjab for allegedly making a hoax call to the Bombay police control room to warn about a death threat to actor Tiger Shroff. He had also sent a video message on WhatsApp on April 21, claiming that a Rs. 2 lakh “supari” had been paid. The Khar (Bombay) police team visited Kapurthala on April 22 and issued summons to Manish Kumar Singh. He was booked for raising a false alarm.
The investigation has revealed that Singh, a former security guard in Bombay, sought publicity as he had not been paid his salary by the security firm’s manager before he left for Punjab in December 2024. He returned to Bombay in January this year and approached the firm for a security job in a hospital but was refused. He then left for his home town again.
Singh was booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 212 (furnishing false information), 217 (giving false information with intent to cause a public servant to misuse lawful power to injure another person) and 353(2) (statements conducing to public mischief).
