‘HUMANS IN THE LOOP’ REVIEW | 12 September, 2025

Released last week in Bombay, Storiculture and Sauv Films’ Humans In The Loop is the story of an Adivasi woman who separates from her partner and returns to her ancestral village with her children. All she is armed with is her initial knowledge about AI. She had endured decades of name-calling and taunts rooted in deep-seated biases. In her village, she takes on the unexpected role of a date labeler, training AI models. But as she delves deeper, she realises the subtle yet persistent human biases embedded within the AI systems too.

Aranya Sahay has written a forward-thinking story about AI. His screenplay is partly engaging whereas his dialogues are ordinary.

Sonal Madhushankar is average as Nehma, the Adivasi woman dabbling into AI. Vikas Gupta is okay as Ritesh. Geeta Guha lends ordinary support as Alka. Anurag Lugum is so-so as Roshan.

Aranya Sahay’s direction is fair. Saransh Sharma’s music is not of the popular variety. Monica Tiwari and Harshit Saini’s cinematography is okay. Shubham Solanki’s production designing is below the mark. Swaroop Raghu and Aranya Sahay’s editing leaves something to be desired.

On the whole, Humans In The Loop is a film with very limited box-office appeal. It collected Rs. 2,67,639/- in 1st week from 1 cinema.
