‘ASHA’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 19 December, 2025

Panorama Studios, Onjal Arts and Earthnetic’s Asha (Marathi; UA) is the story of a selfless Asha worker.

Malti (Rinku Rajguru) is a devoted Asha worker who provides medical assistance to the villagers. Although her mother-in-law doesn’t approve of the work she does, Malti continues to help the needy. One such needy person is Kamla (Shubhangi Bhujbal) who is pregnant. Kamla’s husband, Jeeva  (Rupesh Khare), wants Kamla’s delivery to happen at home, but Malti realises that Kamla’s condition warrants delivery in the hospital. How Malti, with help from Rakhama (Usha Naik), succeeds in her mission forms the crux of the drama.

Antariksh Shriwastav, Deepak Patil and Nilesh Kuwar’s story is not very interesting. Their screenplay does not have the emotional strength and appeal to create the desired impact on the viewers. As a consequence, the audience watch the drama unfold on the screen without feeling the pain of the sufferer (Kamla). For this reason, Malti’s selfless service to the villagers doesn’t have the desired impact on the viewers. The trio’s dialogues are fair.

Rinku Rajguru does a fine job as Malti. Sainkeet Kamat is okay as Malti’s husband, Nilesh. Usha Naik leaves a fine mark in the role of Rakhama. Shubhangi Bhujbal is alright as Kamla. Disha Danade lends average support as Asha co-worker Jyoti. Rupesh Khare is so-so as Kamla’s husband, Jeeva. Dilip Ghare provides routine support as Malti’s father-in-law. Harsha Gupte is okay as Malti’s mother-in-law. Suhas Shirsat delivers a routine performance as Khopdi. Others do as desired.

Deepak Patil’s direction is just about okay. Music (Project Damru and Ashish Jha) is ordinary. Valay Mulgund’s lyrics are functional. Background music is routine. Suresh Sarangam’s camerawork is average. Manas Ghosh’s art direction is dull. Apurva Motiwale’s editing is fairly sharp.

On the whole, Asha is a flop show.

Released on 19-12-’25 at Plaza (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay by Panorama Studios. Publicity & opening: dull.
