BADSHAH APOLOGISES TO NCW FOR TATEEREE SONG | 9 April, 2026

Singer-rapper Badshah on April 7 apologised to the National Commission for Women (NCW) following backlash for his latest song, Tateeree, over its controversial lyrics and video. The singer pledged to work for women’s empowerment, including sponsoring the education of 50 girls from economically weaker sections, and also promised to make a song on women empowerment.

Badshah’s Haryanvi song, Tateeree,  became controversial in March, prompting the NCW to take suo moto cognisance and summon him for questioning. On March 6, the Haryana police registered an FIR in Panchkula over alleged objectionable lyrics and visuals in the video of the song. By March 23, the police helped in removing 857 links related to the controversial song, in coordination with social media platforms following due legal process.
